Yes, and you don't have to re-edit your version.ini, but I advise you to edit it so that everything works and it indicates what you have installed, for example:

8.17 --> version=07.817
8.38 --> version=07.835

I've always the same error with XP installation :


I've tested installation with VC++ 2008 x876 in the initial version and in SP1 from microsoft website and with the version in c:\telemaintennace ( path c:\telemaintenance appears only with installation of 8.01 in WIndows 7 noit in xp version )
I've made too many test and I have a lot of VM to think the problem coem from materials or virtualbox installation...
I've installed successfully diagbox 8 in windows 7 with his updates without any errors with .net frameworks v3.51 & 4.6.1 !!

- I saw the file in list a softwares : "Cache Contents Restorer" but no present in instriuction ?
- what gives to stay under version 8.08 in "ISO 639-1" norm ? a compatibility with olders vehicules ?

The Windows XP I use is: Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3. I have NO problem with this release.

But, I remember having problems with one Windows XP CD, I don't remember which one (may be XP, or XP SP1), and I don't remember the type of error, it was 3 years ago.

I don't know why VC++ 2008 9.0.30729.17 did not solve your problem but VC++ 2008 SP1 did, probably related to your setup. I used vcredist_x86_9.0.21022.8, 9.0.30729.17, 9.0.30729.4148 and 9.0.30729.6161 and they all worked.

Cache_Restorer:
Sometime when editing DiagBox to make new updates work, DiagBox removes all contents of the cache folder and you cannot operate it, hence the restorer.

DiagBox 7.72/8.02:
It was released in 2015 (I think), it is compatible with all vehicles, it just hasn't the latest vehicles or program fixes.

Update 8.38, is only for Lexia and PP2000, NOT all DiagBox.
If you have DiagBox 7.82/3 and would like to update the Lexia and PP2000 to 8.38, then:
1- look for the thread (Lexia & PP2000 (from DiagBox 8.35)) and follow instructions to replace your current C:\APP with the new one.
2- Use the update from 8.35-8.38. (I canno't find it on this site, may be I forgot to post it here!!)

If you are in version 8.17 ... kill ... to close all .... and install this update, reboot diagbox
.... take into account the internet update .... then start diagbox ...
Version displayed ... 8.17! ?

For my problem of installation on windows xp, I have a windows XP manually updated to SP3, not the last released including the SP3... May be this is the problem ??
I'm going to search to download a final windows XP3 to test it !

For update file I need the link between 8.17 and 8.35, I found the 8.35-8.38 ;o)

DiagBox profile is created using your PC ID. This PC ID is a result of compiled information about some components, one of which is the hard disk.

If you change the hard disk, you need to re-install, unless you are using Virtual Machine.

la mise a jour DiagBox_updt_802_Simple , redemarrage de diagbox...erreur !

La même chose m'est arrivé au moment de relancer diagbox après la mise à jour V08.02 et après les mises à jours suivantes aussi. Il m'a suffit de redémarrer windows et quand on relance diagbox ça passe normal.

As far as I remember the file "config.sys", which is needed for DiagBox 8 installation, is created by update 7.45.
Check in "C:\AWRoot\dtwr\cfg\", if you find the file "config.sys", then you do NOT need to upgrade to 7.57 and you can start DiagBox 8.01 installation, if not, then you need to upgrade.
