I don't know, I am not registered. But you can make a backup copy of APPDIAG.SYS and try it and tell us the results.

Are you running a Virtual Machine?

Please provide more information if you still need help..

@stefano06,
I am sorry, I did not understand the Google translation of your question (too many abbreviations).
I formatted a notebook and installed the original Wind XP, upgraded to sp3, everything as suggested by you.
Currently only the error of the first photo appears.
I await the news.Commentaire

There are a couple of reasons for this error, I hope you did not install extra Java engine, DiagBox installs its own.
You could try resetting Internet Explorer 6 and turn off the Scripting Debugger in Internet Explorer 6, follow these steps:Click here to view or hide detailed information
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
- On the Advanced tab, click to select the Disable script debugging box, and then click OK
To remove all the temporary Internet-related files from your computer when you use Internet Explorer 6, follow these steps: Click here to view or hide detailed information- Start Internet Explorer.
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. If you can't see the Tools menu, press Alt to display the menus.
- Click the General tab.
- Under Temporary Internet files, click Settings.
- Click Delete Files, and then click OK.
- Click Delete Cookies, and then click OK.
- Under History, click Clear History, and then click Yes.
- Click OK.
You could also try installing IE 8 (I prefer it over 6), check the compatibility mode. It may be related to the Windows CD you used, you could try using English US Windows XP X86..
Check the hardware RAM and hard disk for corruption, run as Administrator CMD:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>SFC /SCANNOW
and
C:\WINDOWS\system32>chkdsk /b /f /v /scan c:

Check in "C:\APP\sim\jre\bin". DiagBox 7.xx uses Java v6 and DiagBox 8.xx uses Java v7. While it is possible to have more that 1 version of Java on your system, it is not advisable.
You can run the below instruction from CMD to find which version is running on your system:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>Java -version
You did not mention if the system still gives the error or not.Dernière modification par Simple, 27 juillet 2017, 12h10.Commentaire

I try to install DiagBox using this tutorial on a Thinkpad X201 with a fresh XP SP3.
I installed an activated 7.01 as intended, then 8.01 and it was OK but when I run Diagbox again to update itself it asks for c:\temp\DiagBox_End.exe. I couldn't find it neither.
What did I wrong? Do you have this file?Commentaire

To my knowledge the ThinkPad X series come without CD/DVD, I suspect you did not mount your ISO image properly or you don't have enough space on the C: drive.. You probably installed from USB, which ran out of space during extraction.
Download and install "Virtual CloneDrive" attached, (or any other Virtual CD/DVD utility), it is a small utility that will create Virtual DVD's so that you can mount the ISO image and install from it.Fichiers attachésCommentaire

Thank you Simple for your quick answer. But this is not the case, I have plenty of free disc space more than 120GB. I changed the original 150GB HDD for a 500GB one.
I did a dual boot with se7en 64bit and installed WinXP from an USB key. But usually I install everything from the HDD, I have a third partition dedicated to backup and software storage. So, I remove the HDD from the laptop and connect it to the master PC to directly copy the ISO in it, using an usb3 to sata adapter.
About VCD, I personally prefer UltraIso for the DVD emulation because it allows me to edit the ISO content, if necessary. I'm also a big fan of TotalCommander, and this swiss knife utility by the mean of a plugin, let me browse into the ISO and archives like in folders. The system part is now under control, but I'm new with DiagBox.
Do you really know nothing about "DiagBox_End.exe" ?
I still have the C:\AWRoot7 copy. If I messed up in step 5 with the v8 migration, as I have got an appdiag.sys and a config.sys, do I have to restart from the beginning or can I restart from step 4?
There are really a lot of services that want to access the internet in DiagBox, most of them only ask for a localhost loopback but the more demanding is Sim.exe on port 443 and 22, it has an Eclipse icon, do you know its purpose?Commentaire

I have attached the "DiagBox_End.exe", if it helps.. This problem is not particular to DiagBox 8, because it was reported in 2012.
If I am not mistaken, you have a laptop with 3 partitions, one for Win7 X64 and the second for Win XP x86 and the third is for backups and other files... You may have one disk or more.. But there is a difference between Windows XP and Windows 7 in terms of disk labeling.
What ever partition/disk you install Windows 7, the boot partition defaults to C. While if you install Windows XP from D:, it will default to D: and boot from D:. Hence, I would install Windows XP from C: first, then I would install Windows 7 in D:, but when it boots, it will show it as C:.. This does not happen if you install Windows 7 in C: first.
There was an issue with some updates (depending on the configuration), that when the setup process starts, the process tries to create temporary files then move them to the C:\Temp, unfortunately in some setups the computer tries to first create these files on the Read Only location (like a Virtual or real CD.. etc..) ..
I am not saying that this is your setup, in fact I am not sure of your exact installation, and it would be very naive of me to try and guess what is the exact problem and how to solve it or work around it without much information on your setup. But I am sure you will be able to sort it.Fichiers attachésCommentaire

Hi Simple, thanks for your help. I'll test this this evening and report.
In fact I made a clone of the previous Win7 installation with it's hiden boot. Then expanded Win7 to 150GB and shifted it to the middle. Then I installed a 150GB WinXP between the Boot and Se7en. And added a 4th partition at the end for storage. All 3 partitions are NTFS but the boot is not.
So volume1 is hidden (type 17) and weights only 100MB, for sure it won't stand to be used as a temp directory .
Under XP and Se7en, the system disc letter is C: and the other one is none (letter removed).
Virtual CD is O: and Storage is L:.Dernière modification par xlv600, 17 août 2017, 23h20.Commentaire
