DiagBox 8.01 Installation

You are right flashbax, in most platforms nothing is needed for the installation, but sometimes people are advised to install certain tools (just in case they face issues)...
Windows XP needs .NET 3.5 SP1 after DiagBox v7.60. For Windows 7, 8 and 10 .NET 3.5 SP1 is built in (Windows features ON or OFF).
C++ 2008 and Java (they come with DiagBox installation) but may be needed in some platforms ONLY if there are problems. All other tools are not essential for the installation.

flashbax is correct, it is NOT advisable to install DiagBox on Windows 10.

But if you want to install DiagBox on Windows 10 you can:
1- Windows 10 need to be 32 bit, TH1 or TH2, but NOT RS1 (for now)
2- The Hard Disk controller needs to be set to IDE or Legacy ( I have it on AHCI).
3- Set the partition to MBR Not GPT.
4- You need to install Microsoft .NET 3.5 SP1
5- DiagBox needs to be Run as Administrator and preferably in Windows XP Compatibility mode.

You may not need all the above conditions, but it should work this way, see the photo in the first post.

je suivre ton explication et installer diagbox 8.01 sans souci mais je pas encore installer MAJ . le MAJ 8.10 tu parle perde activer et il faut configurer .qu'est qu'il faut faire
s'il tu peut explique un peut plus .merci bien
j'installe comme flashbax écrit sur le texte et je precise sans renommer awroot sans changer code le client

You can use Windows 10 32bit, it works. But if you want to use Windows 64bit, then you MUST use (Virtual Machine) VMWare Player or VirtualBox..

Before installing DiagBox 8.01, you need to rename C:\AWRoot of DiagBox 7.57 or higher to C:\AWRoot7.
Then before starting DiagBox to operate Lexia or PP2000, just edit "version.ini" and comment or remove the line "version=08.10" then save it, like this:

;version=08.10
version=07.74

Or like this:

[APPLICATION]
version=07.74

DiagBox will report V 07.74, but everything will work fine.

Quand je parlais de perdre l'activation en 8.10, uniquement avec diagbox, c'est qu'après la mise à jour 8.10, si on ne démarre pas l'application comme administrateur mais comme un utilisateur normal, non privilégié, elle s'annonce comme non activée. Mais l'activation n'est pas perdue. Il suffit de fermer diagbox, prendre l'icone diagbox, clic droit, propriétés, dans la partie compatibilité, choisir "exécuter en mode administrateur". Comme ça l'activation revient toute seule.
Simple a raison pour la partie PP2000/Lexia, si on démarre ces applications depuis diagbox 8, on perd vraiment l'activation. Donc avant de lancer PP2000 ou Lexia il faut modifier le fichier version.ini pour simuler une version diagbox 7.

Ce que je voudrais maintenant, c'est pouvoir installer les mises à jour de 8.18 à 8.24 sans avoir d'erreur... Rien à faire, j'ai toujours au moins une fonction introuvable dans une DLL. Comme Simple, c'est pour moi plus un défi ou un hobby, car en fait je n'ai besoin que de PP2000 pour ma vieille Peugeot !
Quant à générer les fichiers de configuration pour nous éviter l'installation de la version 7 : les fichiers XML sont cryptés en AES 256, il faudrait trouver la clé dans le code de l'application...

Hi,
Maitresox already released 8.18 (7.82) and I released 8.19 (7.83) sometime back.. I started 8.20 few weeks back, but I became busy with something else and never came back to it.. v8.21, 8.22 and 8.24 should be easy..

On another note.. My son performed a complete DiagBox 7.01 installation that took an amazing 4 minutes.. The platform was Windows XP 32bit SP3, running on VirtualBox with 3GB RAM allocated memory and 20GB allocated Virtual Disk space on his DeskTop computer which is comprised of Intel G3258 CPU at 4.0 GHz with 8GB RAM and 250GB SSD on a Z97 GigaByte motherboard running Windows 10 64bit. The full installation and upgrade to 7.57 took 7 minutes!!!

He then performed another installation with an identical setup but using VMWare Player, which took 11 minutes to 7.01, 14 minutes to 7.02 and 20 minutes to reach 7.57...

Having performed many DiagBox installations on various platforms, some of which took hours and the fastest 7.01 installation took around 20 minutes on VirtualBox. These were the fastest DiagBox installations I have seen and thought to share this information..

Update:
DiagBox 7.01 installed successfully on the latest release of 32bit Windows 10 RS1 (14316.1000.160402-2217). The installation which was on Windows 10 RS1 over VMWare Workstation Pro took 2 hours and 10 minutes and the update to 7.02 took an extra 5 minutes!!!

The Virtual Hardware had 4GB allocated RAM, 36GB allocated Disk space. The Notebook has Intel I5 CPU at 2.5 GHz, 8GB RAM and 1TB SSHD. A far cry from the 4 minutes on Windows XP on VirtualBox with an SSD..

DiagBox v7 and v8 usually failed to install on all Windows 10 RS1 releases up to (14295.1000.60318-1628), but it ran fine on all 32bit Windows 10 RS1 releases, only if Windows is updated from previous releases where DiagBox is already installed.

Two steps to speed up Windows 10 installation:

1- Disable Microsoft Malware Protection;

- Settings --> Update & Security --> Windows Defender --> Turn Off "Real-time protection"

Or:

- Run "gpedit.msc" Group Policy Editor
- Navigate to Computer Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> Windows Components --> Windows Defender
- Double click on "Turn off Windows Defender" and Select "Enabled" --> Apply --> OK
- Close Group Policy Editor

When finished, enable Windows Defender by resetting it back to "Not Configured" and restart the computer..

2- Raise Priority to High;
- Start Task Manager and Right click on the Setup process, Click on "Go to details", right click on the executable and click on "Set priority", choose High (or any setting higher than Normal).

This should bring down the installation time from hours to minutes..

Est-ce qu'on peut les installer les deux en meme temps sur un ordi?
Si ce n'est pas possible, lequel me conseillez vous de garder?
